Sheffield Malaysian Games 2009

First held in 1992, organized by Malaysian Students in Sheffield. The response was overwhelming. I took part with the boys from Manchester for volleyball. A sport that I haven't played for almost 5 years. Pretty rusty here and there and my vertical jump is just high enough to turn on the exhaust fan in my bathroom (which is located not quite high on the wall). Luckily, the height of the net was just nice to provide a lot of action from the boys.

Fresh from the oven. Mr Lan, the one holding the ball was our team captain . The travel wouldn't have been possible without your help. Thanks man! We got two teams for volleyball and another team for badminton. Err..aku tak kenal yg paling hujung kanan..

The boys brought back gold to Manchester. Caya kau!

Yeah!...This is how the picture should be...if you're winning!

Let's see how the boys do it.
Sorry man, I got a fast camera but a slow lens. I would rather enjoy my basmati rice than save for behemoth lens for now lah..:)

More action pics after the jump.

In this game you got 21 points or 10 minutes, which ever came first. Points from the serve was important. This one showed no mercy..

Obey your master dude..!

Some of my fav shot..

He believed he could...

One of the game where he did wonders.

Geram nih!

Sets the basic straight, and the team will be strong

From the final game I guess..

Tony can fly as well!

No...I'm not going to block his spike man..!

Wearing jogging shoes gave some advantages I guess

Fadeaway shot or jumping set?

If only I got the ball in the frame.

Sweet memory last forever!

We did have a lot of fun after that.

Check out my gallery for other shots..here
If you guys wanna use the pics, appreciate it if you can give credit to the photographer and link to my blog as well.
Thanks!..sakit belakang aku sudah!

Piala Perantau 2009

Piala Perantau organized by Kelab Umno Salford & Manchester. Held in Brookhouse Playing Field, Buckthorn Lane, Peel Green Eccles. (Panjangnya alamat!)

I guess sports photography is not everybody cup of tea. This will test your equipment limitation and experience handling the camera parameters. Viewing the subject through the viewfinder is a dissappointing event where the ball move across the field faster than the autofocus motor. All I wanted to do is tight shot with the ball in the frame. Wide shot easier but not that compelling. Somebody who has been long enough in sports photography told one need to learn to use both eyes, one to frame the shot and the other one to predict the movement. Hail to sports photographers!

Playing football in cold winter must be very exciting to the boys. They need to keep running to manage the cold weather. Wearing gloves while playing must have been their dream like sports figure in EPL.

Sharing some pictures..I thought it's the shot of the day.

Unfortunately, that's not the opponent goalkeeper but the referee. Chit! Hampeh! Or else must have been dramatic.

more pics after the jump..

Action...close but cropped ball & slanted horizon. dang!

Another cropped one :(

Penalty shoot out..kacang je I thought. That meshed net confuse my autofocus. Sharp net but out of focus subject.

Manual focus saves the day however.

Goal!

Berbetov spend some time with the boys..

He must be a dangerous striker. 3 orang jaga.

Celebration

Credit given where is due. Kudos to volunteers
